Free Barrel Racing Clinics on Wed. Nights
You are invited to attend one of our free barrel racing mini-clinics in Cedar Creek, TX. We specialize in offering horsemanship and barrel racing lessons from beginners to winners. We are new to Texas, having moved here from Southern Utah. As a way to introduce ourselves and our training programs, we are holding two free clinics each month. We will take 8 students at each clinic. We will also take 3 alternates in case of student cancellation, in which case you'll be notified by email the day before if we have an opening. The only requirements are that you must be able to ride at a walk, trot, and lope safely and you must bring your own horse. Due to safety concerns, we do not allow students to ride stallions at our clinics.
If you are interested in attending, please email with your name, email address, phone number, age, and a short paragraph about yourself. Make sure you include which date you would like to attend. You'll receive and email back with confirmation of your registration, along with a release which must be signed prior to the clinic and an agenda for the clinic you'll be attending.
If we cancel due to weather, you will be notified by email, so please be sure your email address is one that you can access before you haul to the clinic.

Some of the things we'll work on at the clinics will include:
-How to properly work a barrel horse through the pattern, whether they're a young horse, or an older finished horse. We will address the approach, hands, feet, seat/body positions, pockets, collection and acceleration points.
-Along with our basic barrel pattern work, I will share different barrel exercises to help keep your horse supple and underneath himself as he listens to you through the entire pattern.
-We will work on creating perfect circles, using arcs and counterarcs to develop softness and roundness in your turns, allowing your horse to use his body efficiently.
-We will also focus on horsemanship in general: sidepass/diagonals, getting your horse to yield to your legs as they move forward, speed control using your body position, developing soft hands and a quiet horse.
Things to bring:
Bucket to water your horse when you're finished, chairs for spectators, bug spray if attending during mosquitoe months, bell boots/leg protection for your horse, any bits you would like to try.
